| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

HUGO WEAVING RETURNS AS THE VOICE OF MEGATRON IN TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN
Many thanks to Dragontail from the TAAU boards for passing on this very exciting article published today in Adelaide's The Advertiser newspaper:
Mega Secret - By Andrew Fenton, Film Writer, The Advertiser
In town to promote his rather excellent new Aussie film, "Last Ride", Hugo Weaving let slip he'll be returning as the voice of Megatron in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen".
Fans no doubt will recall that when we last saw Megatron, Sam (Shia LaBeouf) had rammed the All Spark cube into his chest, thereby destroying him. Despite this certain death, rumours have been circulating the villain was going to make a comeback. Director Michael Bay went so far as to flatly deny the rumour, telling Empire: "He's not in the movie".
Turns out Bay was fibbing. "I've already done it," Weaving says, adding Bay had told him to keep the news hush-hush. "He's over in LA and we were working on the video split sort of thing and I had this strange conversation where he seemed to imply it was all a big secret. So there you go - I've given you the secret scoop."
So how is Megatron resurrected? Weaving is coy about revealling too much, but does give a tiny hint.
"I think in the last one, doesn't Optimus Prime pick up a little bit of, a shard of the cube, or the thing that's left, and he takes it with him. Maybe there's something there... but I don't know," he laughs.
We'll find out on June 25, the film's Australian release.

COLLECTZING, A NEW ONLINE SOCIAL AND TRADING NETWORK FOR COLLECTORS
I was contacted recently by one of the founders of collectZing - a new online social and trading network for collectors - asking me if I wouldn't mind checking their site out and possibly giving them a plug if I thought it might be something Transformers collectors would be interested in, and after creating an account today and setting up a couple of collections, I can definitely see how this would be something TAAU members might find useful, so why not take a look for yourselves by visiting www.collectZing.com or by learning a little more about the network below:
CollectZing.com, the free online social and trading network for collectors, young and old, dabbling and passionate, has been launched. With collectZing you can easily create and organise catalogues of your collectibles, and store important information about them.
The collectZing Marketplace is an online trading exchange where collectors can buy, sell and swap their collectibles, with no fees or costs during the beta period.
Members can list their items for sale with a range of different payment options, including collectZing's own virtual currency the 'Zing'. Potential buyers can then browse and make offers on the items - including offering one of their own items for a swap as part of the trade. The Marketplace is not auction based, so sellers can choose to accept any of the offers, meaning highest price does not necessarily guarantee success.
Unlike auction web sites, collectZing tracks the provenance of the items traded in the Marketplace, helping to prevent fraud and substantially improving the historical information available about a collectible the next time it is offered for sale in the Marketplace.
collectZing benefits all types of collectors. New collectors can learn from more experienced ones, join the community and make long-term friendships, and easily maintain a catalogue of all their new purchases and finds. More passionate collectors can benefit from the detailed object descriptions, which can be used to maintain financial and insurance information, track loans, trades and sale information.
collectZing.com is the ideal online meeting place for collectors of anything at all. Most of us have something we collect - even if you don't view yourself as a 'collector' you can still have fun on the site by creating collections of things that are meaningful to you."

MEATBEE'S NEW TRANSFORMERS COVER SONG
I'm not sure how many of you remember this, but a few years ago a local Canberra band called 'Meatbee' released a chilled out version of the Transformers theme song (which you can still find at Meatbee.com right here).
Shortly after they released it I conducted an interview with them for the old TAAU Newsletter (which you can read here), and lo-and-behold, they got back in touch with me today with some news!
"Hi Stephen,
Not sure if you remember us, but you interviewed us a few years back after we released an acoustic version of the Transformers theme.
Ever since then we have been trying to find those making the recently released movie in a bid to get our song on there.
About six months ago we finally got the song to the soundtrack supervisor of the movie who liked it so much they had us re-record it in a more hard rock fashion. They loved it and were going to use it, but at the last minute Warners in the US took over the soundtrack and we got ditched!
Anyway, we are releasing it anyway, and would really appreciate it if you could put the word out for us to your members.
The video of the song is here.
Let me know what you think!
Ben"
So please guys, take a look and let them know what you think. Personally I think it looks and sounds awesome, plus I think there might even be a tribute to 'Chip' in there as well, so might have to ask them about that! :D
