| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

G1 TRANSFORMERS: BEST OF DVD / COMPETITION UPDATE AND REMINDER
Those nice folks at Madman have dropped me a line to provide an update regarding their upcoming G1 Transformers: Best Of DVD and TAAU competition, and have let me know that the plan is to release this as a 2 disc, 10 episode set in November (same month as Beast Wars 3 and many other retro titles such as MASK and Ulysses).
Now, when this was initially announced, everyone was very excited by the possible inclusion of unseen special features on this set, and while Madman will continue to push for what they can here, they just wanted to clarify that they can't guarantee that there will be any at this stage, so just wanted to let you know upfront, in case it doesn't happen after all.
What Madman ultimately want to communicate with this set is "The idea", and part of the reason they want fans to have their say on favourite episodes is because this 'Best Of' is aimed at new fans or people less familiar with Transformers. They know that most of TAAU already have the older sets and they don't expect to sell this one to the hardcore element; this one's more for the newbies :)
So when voting on your favourite episodes, it would be great for you guys to think of this as an introduction, from existing fans to new fans, on what makes G1 Transformers so cool.
There is still something in it for you existing fans to suggest your favourite episode/s however: First, if you can describe very briefly why it's such a good episode, Madman may include your name and description on the DVD! Second, the best entry from TAAU will win a Madman Transformers pack including Best Of, Transformers T-Shirts, the Movie, and Transformers set 6 which has all the best special features!
So in short, it's 10 favourite episodes, aimed at new fans, but old fans have the opportunity to nominate your favourites, and if you explain in approx 50 words why your favourite episode is so great, they may include that description on the DVD with your name, and one of you will win a Transformers pack with Transformers Best Of, Transformers Tshirts, Transformers the Movie, and Transformers Collection 6!
Now, you don't have much time left I'm afraid, as all entries must be in by Monday, July 31, so get posting your favourites in this thread here (if you're a TAAU board member), or email it to me at enquiries@theyareamongus.com, letting us know why you think the episode/s in question is so damn great.
Okay, last chance, so go for it! :D

NEW DELUXE CYBERTRON WAVE REACHES STORES
Unicron, Demolishor and "Bendy" Optimus Prime. They're loose!
Sightings of the eighth wave of Cybertron figures have been coming in from all over the country. Soundwarp was the first to uncover them at his local Toyworld. Since then, members including Tankage, Archangel, Speedbreaker, Holy Grail 4 and yours truly have found them at different stores including Myer and Big W.
At the same time, TAAU member Felafel has found the newest wave of Mini-cons - repaints of the Requiem Blaster and Perceptor teams - at Toy Kingdom.

FINDINGS BIG AND METAL, AND SMALL AND PLASTIC
The drought of last year is well and truly in the past - we have floods of new Transformers hitting the shelves.
Long-time TAAU board member Vert found the new wave of Legends of Cybertron mini-figures - Thundercracker, Excellion, Sunstorm and Galaxy Force Optimus Prime - at his local Big W for the usual $6 price tag.
And yours truly found the fully-transformable Titanium Megatron and War Within Optimus Prime at Toys R Us, Rundle Mall, Adelaide for $29.99 each.
Let the hunting commence - it's going to be a busy weekend in toy aisles across the nation.

THE AXE-MECH COMETH
He's big, he's white, he's packing a buzzsaw axe and he's out on Australian shelves.
Giant Planet/Gigantian/Gigalonia leader Metroplex is the latest release from Transformers: Cybertron to reach Australia. TAAU board members Llamatron, Daz and DragonTail have all found the big guy at their local Big W stores - Whitfords, Livingstone and Golden Grove - for $68.99.
And it's likely you'll be able to pick him up at other outlets soon - board member Sammy placed a pre-order for Metroplex at Toyworld in Norwood, SA, that was delivered earlier in the week. At this stage, it doesn't seem he'll be an exclusive to any particular chain, so good hunting!
