Although the TAAU message board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters to constantly update this section each and every day for you. As there are already a number of excellent international news sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course, the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to be!

MADMAN G1 'BEST OF' DVD COMPETITION ANNOUNCED

Hey guys, I have some good news for you!

Well, we've already had the 'good' news haven't we, so let's call this the 'even better' news, or the 'wicky, wicky, wild, wild' news! (ahem): anyway, Madman contacted me today to let me know that all your votes/submissions so far have been great, so a big thank you to everyone who's taken the time to send/post your choices so far, however, they want more, and in an effort to get your brains and fingers moving, they're going to offer some prizes to you lucky, lucky people!

Basically, you should continue voting for your favourite episodes regardless, as these will all count towards the 'best of' still, but for those of you willing to go into a bit more detail by picking your absolute favourite G1 episode and telling us why you lurve it so much and want to marry it (in a single paragraph, keeping it to around 50 words), Madman will include their favourite single choices/reasons on the actual DVD itself, adding your name in lights! Not only that, but the winner(s) will also receive a copy of the Transformers: Best of DVD, along with some other Transformers goodies! How good is that?!

Now, for those of you who have already posted/given your reasons for some of your choices, you don't have to resubmit your entry as you'll be automatically included in the draw, but for those of you who've just listed the names of your favourite episodes(s) so far, please feel free to email or post again, detailing your single favourite episode and why you think it's so great.

So just to clarify, all votes/submissions so far will be going towards the 'best of' choices for the DVD still, but to qualify and be in-the-running to get your best episode choice/name on the DVD and pick up a few other Transfomers items along the way, you'll need to resubmit your entry by either posting it in this thread here (if you're a TAAU board member), or emailing it to me at enquiries@theyareamongus.com, letting us know why you think the episode in question is so damn wicky, wicky, wild, wild!

Okay, so, ding-ding, round 2: let's go!

Oh, and by the way, anyone can use the code, so share it with your friends and tell them TAAU sent you!

Madman have put a lot of work into this set, in fact, the special features alone are almost too good to have on one set (over 3 hours of new content), and Season 2 is widely regarded as one of the best seasons of animation ever! This is where Transformers fans who don't know much about Beast Wars should definitely jump on board, because events in Beast Wars link directly into what happened to the Autobots and Decepticons before they woke up on earth!

Some buzz on those extra features:

+ Soul of Beast Wars - Story Editors Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio go in-depth with Ben Yee on all things Beast Wars. The writing process, the fans, the links to G1 and much more, includes background footage and images from relevant episodes - runs a full hour!

+ Audio Commentaries - 7 commentaries on key episodes chosen by the Story Editors, over 2 and a half hours of extra Beast Wars info

+ Early animation tests - Direct from Mainframe, early models and scenes, most never seen before!

+ David Kaye fan panel - the voice of Megatron at Transformerscon 2004

+ Garry Chalk fan panel - the voice of Optimus at Transformerscon 2005

With more including Toy Galleries, commercials, a booklet with episode summaries and a great article on Beast Wars from Mainframe fan consultant Ben Yee, this is a DVD you don't want to miss, so head on over to www.beastwars.com.au, follow the links and order now!

MADMAN TO RELEASE A G1 'BEST OF' DVD: VOTE NOW!

Yes, that's right, you read that correctly: Madman Entertainment have revealed that they are looking to release a Transformers G1 'Best Of' DVD, similar to their recent He-Man 'Best Of' release, and they want you to choose the episodes!

Now, this isn't a poll in the traditional sense of the word, as we're not going to give you a number of pre-selected episodes to vote on; instead, we're going to throw it completely open and so would like you to post any ten of your most wanted/favourite episodes from the entire G1 cartoon series', all of which you'd like to see on this release.

So all you have to do is post what you think are the ten 'best' episodes (in order of importance) in this thread here, or, if you're not a member of the TAAU board, then please feel free to send your episode suggestions to me at enquiries@theyareamongus.com instead, and I'll forward them on to Madman to be included in the tally.

I don't have a closing date at this stage, but I'd say you have a couple of weeks to have a think about it and re-watch any of the series if you need a refresher, and then once you've drawn up your top ten (or less if you really can't pick that many! ), please post them on the board or shoot them through to me via email and I'll let you know what Madman decide once they've tallied up the results.

Lastly, Madman have confirmed that this will be a 2-disc set containing 10 episodes, will definitely include extras (and hopefully a specially commissioned cover as well), and all for the bargain price of $30!

Alright, so, what are you waiting for? Let's hear your suggestions!
