| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

MADMAN G1 'BEST OF' DVD COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCED
Well, after weeks of watching and rewatching old G1 cartoons so you could compile your top ten lists and pick out your absolute favourite episode, the deadline for the TAAU/Madman G1 'Best Of' DVD competition reared it's head on July 31st, so I forwarded all your email entires on to Madman and pointed them in the direction of this thread here containing all the posted submissions, and left it up to them to pick out the overall winner, and I am very pleased to report they have chosen Kelpie's The Golden Lagoon entry!:
"Ignoring the fact that I loath writing essays or anything remotely related to such a task and that my love of this episode is forcing me to do just that. A love so unconditional I am willing to scribe my own vows of holy matrimony, I offer the following;
This episode conveys the powerful message that in war there are no winners while delivering a highly enjoyable story, including some of the best character development and scene execution available in any G1 cartoon.
While watching this episode it's hard to ignore not only the vast array of characters but the large amount who receive short scenes devoted to their own characterisation including: Thrust, Powerglide, Warpath, Omega Supreme, Mirage, Smokescreen, Sunstreaker, Perceptor, Seaspray, Starscream, Blitzwing and most importantly Beachcomber, of whom the episode focuses upon..."
So congratulations Kelpie, you win a Madman 'Transformers pack', consisting of the G1 'Best Of' DVD, Transformers T-Shirts, the Movie and Transformers set 6 which has all the best special features!
You can view Kelpie's winning entry in its entirety right here.
Madman have also chosen the top ten episodes to feature on the 'Best Of' DVD, and will reveal those, plus the names of the people whose descriptions will accompany them on the DVD shortly, so stay tuned!
