| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

NEW AUSTRALIAN MADE TRANSFORMERS FAN GAME: 'TRANSFORMERS: BROKEN DESTINY'
It seems that Atari insider and TAAU board member, Desert Dog, has been suffering withdrawal symptoms since completing the PS2 masterpiece, Transformers, and so has spent the last few months working on his very own Transformers fan game, entitled Transformers: Broken Destiny.
The game, as he puts it, is "a visual novel with turn-based fight sequences and a memory mini-game", and is based upon Armada "simply because all of the game's art comes from the Armada comics". It will be a 2D game, so you won't need to upgrade your video cards, and you'll even be able to change the artwork if you'd like to, as they're all standard jpg files, so why not download a sneak peak of the awesome title right here.

TAAU board members reillyd, Greejo and DragonTail have spied two new releases on Australian shelves this week... Universe Downshift and Snowcat!
Repaints of the Energon figures of the same name, the duo were found in Cybertron-esque packaging at Toyworld stores for $26.99 each.

CYBERTRON AIRS ON PAY-TV FROM TOMORROW
Tired of watching the... ahem... judiciously edited screenings of Transformers: Cybertron every Saturday on Channel 10? Well, as of tomorrow, you have an alternative - provided you have access to pay-TV, that is.
Long-time TAAU member Burn was easing his boredom with a dose of Mucha Lucha when he saw an advertisement proclaiming Cybertron begins on Foxtel's Cartoon Network tomorrow - meaning Monday, October 2 - at 8am!
Time to start setting VCRs and recordable DVD players again, folks.

SCORPION HUNT
"Always bet on black," Wesley Snipes once intoned. Sound advice - especially if you're trying to predict the buying habits of Transfans. The moment a pre-existing figure gets a black coat of paint and a slight re-tooling, it becomes number one on the "must buy" lists of most fans.
Case in point: Cybertron's Dark Scorponok.
Though you can still find the Energon version on the clearance shelf of your local K-Mart, the repaint (which has been slightly altered to allow for the Cyber Key gimmick) is an elusive beast. To help you out, we here at TAAU have compiled a list of sightings - all at Toys R Us stores, all for $54.99 each. Dark Scorponok has been spied (and, usually, purchased) at:
Midland, Western Australia Perth City, Western Australia Pacific Fair, Queensland Liverpool, Sydney Rundle Mall, Adelaide, South Australia
According to Toys R Us staff, Dark Scorponok is packed one per case along with copious numbers of the two earlier Ultra class figures - Jetfire and Scourge. Many stores received new shipments last Thursday (in Adelaide, the toy was at the top of a nine-foot stack of goods waiting to be labeled and shelved) so it's worth a careful check if you want one of these black beasties.
In other Cybertron news, the first three basics of Wave 3 - Armourhide, Undermine and Brakedown - have been sighted at a number of Target stores across the country. Like Dark Scorponok, it would appear the tiny trio are packed one per case with already-released figures, so be prepared to dig through the pegs to unearth them.
