| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

CYBERTRON WAVE 2, NEW ALTERNATORS SIGHTED
TAAU board members Vert, Capey and Felafel have been shopping, and they've found new Transformers that should be of great interest to all fans.
Capey scared up wave two of the Cybertron Scout-class figures - including Clocker and Hardtop - at Toys R Us in Morley. At K-Mart Northland, Melbourne, Felafel also found the second wave of small 'bots and 'cons.
Last but not least, Vert found a treasure trove of new figures at his local Uncle Pete's in New South Wales. Not only did the store have the second wave - including the Mini-con three-pack - but also four Alternators - Decepticharge, Shockblast, Grimlock and Wheeljack.
They're out there, folks...

CYBERTRON AND ALTERNATORS IN STOCK AT TRANSFIGURE TOYS
Transfigure Toys have informed me that their latest shipment from Hasbro has arrived! In stock and shipping now is the entire Cybertron Wave 1 line and the otherwise hard-to-find Alternators. Priced competitively and with free shipping on all orders over $80, it's certainly a viable alternative to the major retailers:
Legends of Cybertron ($8) | Alternators ($45)
Cybertron: Scout ($14) | Deluxe ($23) | Voyager ($45) | Ultra ($58) | Leader ($78)
At the same time Transfigure Toys are about to launch their credit card facilities, so you wont have to worry about the bill for a while!

MP-02 ULTRA MAGNUS RELEASED IN AUSTRALIAN TARGET STORES
A few months, back, TAAU broke the world exclusive news that Takara's second "Masterpiece" figure, Ultra Magnus, would be released domestically by Hasbro AU through Target stores nationwide.
Now, thanks to board member The_Kid_In_The_Helmet, we can be the first in the world to tell you the long-promised release date has arrived! The Kid tells us he found four MP-02 figures, resplendent in their original Japanese packaging, at Target in Chirnside Park. The toys were retailing for $149.99 each, with the upcoming Target sale promising a nice price to come.
So while you're hunting for Cybertron goodness, keep your eyes peeled for G1's legendary Autobot City Commander as well - he's a stunning counterpart to MP-01 Optimus Prime, not to mention a great addition to a collection of Binaltechs or Alternators.

CYBERTRON EVERYWHERE
First of all and, in this reporter's humble opinion, most importantly... Transformers: Cybertron has finally made its way to South Australia! Toys R Us in Rundle Mall, Adelaide, has both Jetfire and Scourge in stock for $54.95 each, with more figures sure to be on the way.
Now for the rest of the news.
TAAU member iamonqq has found the elusive Crumplezone at his local K-Mart, where the prices are... mind-boggling. The store is asking $27 for Deluxes, $45.79 for Megas and a whopping $93 for the Leader class, so be sure to take a catalogue along and insist on price-matching.
Toyworld, meanwhile, has Cybertron on sale until Saturday June 25, and their prices are much more hospitable for rabid Transfans. TAAU member Mattafoo tells us that, under their pricing scheme, you'll pay $24.99 for Deluxes, $59.99 for Ultras and $89.99 for Leaders.
Over at Toys R Us Scrambletown, where TAAU member sharkysparky walks the aisles, the prices are slightly different. The chain, which boats a range including the so-far-unseen Scout class (once known as basics), sells Leaders for $79.99, Ultras for $49.99, Voyager class for $39.99, Deluxes for $23.99 and Scout for $14.99.
Fellow board member TANkAGE informs us these prices are part of a special introductory sale about to start at TRU - which has another bonus! Those who purchase either of the Leader-class figures (Optimus Prime or Megatron) will receive a free Scout-class figure until the sale ends. Once it's over, you'll pay $89.99 for the Leaders and $54.99 for Ultras.
Once again we go back to the tote board for a list of who's out there...
OPTIMUS PRIME MEGATRON HOT SHOT THUNDERCRACKER LANDQUAKE DIRT BOSS CRUMPLEZONE JETFIRE SCOURGE LOC OPTIMUS PRIME LOC MEGATRON LOC STARSCREAM LOC HOT SHOT
... and some un-named Scout figures. The hunt is well and truly on!

CYBERTRON UPDATE
Transformers: Cybertron continues its inexorable march through Australian retailers, with even more of the first wave of figures showing up around the country.
TAAU boards member Felafel was the first to lay eyes on the Ultra-sized Jetfire and Scourge at his local Toys R Us. Members sharkysparky and TANkAGE later found them at K-Mart ($56.90 each) and TRU ($54.95) respectively.
Meanwhile, the ever-reliable reillyd located the much-talked-about Legends of Cybertron toys - the smaller-scale versions of Cybertron's big names - at Toyworld Runway Bay (which seems to be the place to go for TF). Mini-sized Optimus Prime, Megatron, Hot Shot and Starscream are out there for $6.99 each.
Looking over at the tote board, we can see the figures found so far are:
OPTIMUS PRIME MEGATRON HOT SHOT THUNDERCRACKER LANDQUAKE DIRT BOSS JETFIRE SCOURGE LOC OPTIMUS PRIME LOC MEGATRON LOC STARSCREAM LOC HOT SHOT
And, on a personal note, this Transfan would like to add none of these toys have made their way down south yet. Consarn it!

TRANSFORMERS: CYBERTRON 15 SECOND AUSTRALIAN TV TEASER TRAILER
In addition to the Cybertron release schedule sent to me last week, Hasbro AU have also very kindly emailed through a sneak peak at the Australian Transformers: Cybertron TV commercial, which is due to air in full at the end of June.
The clip is quite low resolution and only runs for 15 seconds, but should be enough to get your juices flowing, so check out the 2.53mb mpg right here.

ATARI MELBOURNE HOUSE DEVELOPER SHARES DETAILS OF THEIR CANCELLED TRANSFORMERS 2 GAME
TAAU board member and Atari Melbourne House developer 'Desert Dog' was kind enough to stop by our forums this evening to give us a rare and exclusive insight into work carried out on the now defunct follow-up title to their amazing Transformers game released last year.
In his post he reveals that there were to be more player characters (including Decepticons), more levels and a co-op mode. He also details the basic storyline for the proposed game, and more, so check out his posts in this thread here!

CYBERTRON SPREADS ACROSS OZ
The reports are coming in faster now as more and more Transformers: Cybertron toys reach the shelves of Australian retailers. So far, Toyworld seems to be the place to buy new 'bots, as many happy TAAU members can attest.
Following on from Bundy Rugby's initial find in Runway Bay, reillyd reports finding the newest range of figures at Australia's Fair Toyworld. Random Sweep, meanwhile, found an assortment of deluxe and leader class figures at Toyworld in Fyshwick ACT (perhaps Prime and Megatron are thinking of running for Parliament?), and member Soundwarp had similar success at Toyworld Capalabah.
So far, the following figures have been found:
OPTIMUS PRIME MEGATRON HOT SHOT THUNDERCRACKER LANDQUAKE DIRTBOSS
The leaders are retailing for around the $70 mark, with the remaining toys (all in the deluxe size class) soaking you about $20 each.

FIRST CYBERTRON SIGHTING IN AUSTRALIA
TAAU board member Bundy Rugby has reported Australia's first sighting of Transformers: Cybertron - at Toyworld in Runway Bay!
On the shelves, Bundy found Optimus Prime, Megatron, and the deluxe-sized Thundercracker, Landmine and Dirt Boss. The leaders were retailing for $69.95 each.
Other TAAU members have reported finding absolutely nothing new at their local stores, so it appears Toyworld Runway Bay may be unique... for now. Keep you eyes peeled, as the newest Transformer toys are sure to his stores nationally in the days to come!

STAR CONVOY RE-ISSUE ANNOUNCED
Transfigure Toys have kindly confirmed the latest news that Star Convoy (with Micromaster Hot Rodimus) will indeed be reissued by Takara, and is available for pre-order right now!
Full details are not yet known, but given its size, it's likely to be in the same vein as the Predaking which was released late last year - i.e. non book-style. Fortunately however, the price tag is seemingly more forgiving this time around: only $125 from Transfigure Toys, including shipping.
Star Convoy is due for release on September 29th and will also ship with Micromaster Hot Rodimus (and let's face it, it's almost worth getting it just for him!).

LET THE SALES BEGIN!
With the announcement that Transformers: Cybertron will be hitting our shores this month, it seems that retailers are getting prepared by clearing out their Energon stocks. Currently our friends at Case Fresh have slashed prices on the Energon line as well as some of the other Transformers products they stock.
Offline, major retailer Target have Energon Optimus Prime featured in their stock take sale catalogue at a massive saving of 50% off. Going by previous Target sales featuring Transformers, there should be savings to be had on their other Energon stocks as well.
So if you are behind with your Energon collection, or have been putting off buying some of the repaints, now is a great time to grab a bargain!
In addition, those nice folks at Transfigure Toys are already cutting the prices on some of their Galaxy Force stock, with savings of up to $25 to be had some figures, so it's well worth checking out their Specials section as well.

Transfigure Toys has also sent through a friendly reminder that #20 Perceptor and BT-14 Wheeljack will be arriving within the next two weeks, so if you haven't ordered yours already, now's the time to do it!
