to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

TRANSFIGURE TOYS NAMED AS TAAU'S 'PREFERRED TOY RETAILER'
As you will know, Transfigure Toys - run by long-standing member, doctorworm - has been a keen supporter of TAAU for quite some time now, and has not only sponsored many a TAAU competition, but has also been providing TAAU members with what I personally consider to be the best service, pricing and packaging in the country, especially when it comes to Japanese imports such as Takara and e-Hobby figures. Dealing directly with a known, trusted and locally-based Australian retailer takes the worry out of ordering those hard-to-find overseas items, and allows for faster shipping and easier payment methods too, so I for one am very glad to have them around!
As a result, I have been in discussions with doctorworm recently to further expand on this already excellent relationship, and have agreed to take them on as a sub-sponsor in exchange for special message board privileges. Also, in light of their exemplary service and continued support of TAAU and all of its members, I would also like to take this opportunity to name them as TAAU's 'Preferred Toy Retailer', as they simply are a business you can rely upon and trust, and would urge anyone looking for Transformers, Star Wars, Anime or official game-related merchandise to check them out and give them a try, as you won't be disappointed!

TRANSFORMERS: CYBERTRON RELEASE SCHEDULE FOR JUNE/JULY!
Get ready to be excited guys, because Hasbro have just informed me that Transformers: Cybertron is expected to hit our stores in the next few weeks!
Now, the full launch range is expected to be on the shelves for July, but it will obviously take a few weeks to get to each of the retailers, especially as some of them are holding back stock for catalogue placement, so Hasbro won't be shipping out of their warehouse until late next week at the earliest, so there's no point running around looking for it at the moment! :)
Anyway, I've reproduced the spreadsheet Hasbro have kindly sent me - including the all-important SKU numbers - so check it out in the TAAU 'Release Dates' section here.
You'll probably also notice that Starscream is missing from the list. This is because he's being deliberately held back until September (i.e. when programming is expected to begin on TV) to avoid the 'Unicron situation', so don't panic, he will be making it to our fair shores, just not yet that's all.

MADMAN'S G1 'COLLECTION 6' DVD BOX SET DRAWS NEARER
Madman Entertainment have kindly sent through further details of their upcoming G1 'Collection 6' DVD box set, which will contain the last three episodes from season 4 ('Rebirth', parts 1, 2 and 3), plus a whole heap of exclusive extras, only available on this awesome Australian release!
Take a look at the back of the DVD box set here to get an idea what you can expect to see amongst all the jam-packed content, including audio commentary from Voice Director Wally Burr, interviews with Simon Furman and Andrew Wildman (answering questions as submitted by you!), plus scripts, trailers and a whole lot more!
Because of the sheer size and quantity of the extras and the amount of work involved in authoring it all, Madman have decided to delay the release of this box set until July to ensure that they can apply the level of polish it's going to require! As a result, the new release date is now set to 20.07.05.
Also check out Madman's Retro section, which contains many cool mini-sites, including Robotech, He Man, Astroboy and Battle of the Planets, as well as Transformers.

TAAU'S HAD A BABY!
Or should I say Vert from the TAAU boards has had a baby... actually, what I really mean to say is that his lovely wife Rainbowbrite from the TAAU boards has had a baby! Phew!
Anyway, our warm wishes to the happy couple who gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 9:57am this morning, so congratulations guys and may this newest addition to your 'collection' provide you with years of joy!

FIRST TRANSFORMERS: CYBERTRON FIGURES SIGHTED IN NEW ZEALAND
Thanks to Onslaught86 from the TFNZ boards and Sifun from the TAAU boards for letting us know that Transformers: Cybertron has finally arrived, and in New Zealand of all places!
Comcast reports in this thread here that he spotted Crumplezone and Vector Prime in his local Toy World in New Plymouth for $55 NZD each (roughly $51.50 AUD).
Congrats guys, we're all very jealous here, in fact, I think it's about time I booked another long weekend in Auckland! Who's with me? ;)

G1 CARTOON NOW AIRING ON CARTOON NETWORK THROUGHOUT AUSTRALIA
Thanks to Vert from the TAAU boards for reporting some very exciting news recently: it seems that Cartoon Network has had a flash of retro inspiration, and have decided to treat those of you who are lucky enough to get Foxtel with a re-run of the original (and best) G1 cartoon series!
