Although the TAAU message board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters to constantly update this section each and every day for you. As there are already a number of excellent international news sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course, the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to be!

WAR WITHIN TO BE COMPLETED IN PAPERBACK FORM?

Australian-based online comics store Ecomics.com.au has listed Transformers - The War Within: Age of Wrath as one of their trade paperback releases for September. The paperback is slated to contain the already-published issues #1 through #3 of the series (featuring the return of Megatron) as well as the unpublished issues #4 through #6 (spotlighting the return of Optimus Prime).

As fans would know, this series was in the middle of its scheduled run when US publisher Dreamwave went into bankruptcy. When questioned about its listing, Ecomics.com.au told TAAU:

"The publisher was Dreamwave but (the book) now is being published by a company called DreamEngine. As of today, our records still confirm that this item is to be released in early September. The original publisher of the company Dreamwave is now no longer in business, but the rights to their existing product have been given to DreamEngine."

As fans would also be aware, DreamEngine is the company Pat and Roger Lee formed in the final days of Dreamwave.

So have the Lee brothers been granted the rights to Transformers once again, or do they simply have the right to distribute all the completed yet unpublished material created under their watch? Stay tuned, as TAAU will bring you more developments as they arise.

BRAND NEW ENERGON MEGAS JUST $24.95 @ TRU

While other retail chains try to clear out the last of their old Energon stock at reduced prices, the good folks at Toys 'R Us have gone one step further. In a sale that began yesterday, TRU is offering the most recent wave of Energon Megas - including Wingsaber and the Dinobots - for just $24.95 each.

TRU's sale on Universe deluxes, meanwhile, has expanded past Silverbolt and Reptilon to include Snarl, Blackarachnia and Skywarp. Each of those figures now retails for just $9.95 each.

ENERGON MARATHONS... NOW WEEKLY?

Foxtel's Cartoon Network is once again screening marathon blocks of Transformers: Energon this weekend - on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The screenings will pick up from where last weekend's marathons left off, bringing viewers ever closer to the unscreened final episodes of the series.

There is no word yet as to whether these marathons are set to continue for the rest of the month but, as soon as there is, TAAU will pass it on to the Transfan community.

UPDATE 10/4/05: Thanks to TAAU board member Burn for pointing out some new developments... CN is promoting new episodes of Energon starting from Wednesday, April 20 at 5.30pm EST.

TAAU APRIL '05 COMPETITION NOW OPEN!

It is with great pleasure that I welcome back the loveable guys at TransfigureToys.com this month, who have been doing great things over the past year and have made a lot of new customers and friends here at TAAU, in fact, I don't think it's any exaggeration to say that as a result of their fast and friendly service, their cheap prices and their excellent packaging, they now provide almost half of all TAAU members with all their Japanese Transformers needs, as well as a great many others with Anime DVDs, Star Wars figures, McFarlane statues and more!

To show what generous souls they are and to give something back, they have once again agreed to donate a prize for this month's TAAU competition, and not just any prize either, as this month they're offering you the chance to win a Transformers: Galaxy Force Blurr Vs Buzz Saw set, all the way from Japan!

Please check out the 'Competitions' section or Message Board for full details.
