| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

MADMAN ENTERTAINMENT TAKE OVER SPONSORSHIP OF TAAU FOR 2005
As announced on the TAAU message board yesterday, it is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our site sponsor for 2004, Case Fresh, however stepping in to take over this year and ensuring we all have a virtual roof over our heads for 2005 (it's like winning one of those 'Free rent for a year' competitions, isn't it?!), is none other than Australia's biggest and best DVD distribution company, Madman Entertainment!
As you know, Madman have been very good to us over the last few years, whether as a result of the countless competition prizes they have donated, or from their willingness to not only ask for, but act upon our feedback regarding all of their Transformers releases, right through to the numerous news items and updates they have sent through to us, however their decision to not only take care of TAAU's annual hosting fees, but to also officially affiliate themselves with us and lend their name to the site shows their complete commitment to the fans and community as a whole, and so we should be very proud to have earned their support, as they don't do these things lightly!
Dean Prenc, Madman spokesman and producer of Australia's Transformers DVDs, sent this very nice email through to me today:
"We are very proud to sponsor TAAU, which is clearly Australia's #1 Transformers information hub and a great looking site in its own right! Rest assured, now more than ever we'll be working hard to make sure that TAAU is the first port-of-call for all Madman related Transformers news!
I hope everyone enjoys all the coverage over the next 12 months, including the window we'll provide into some of our other releases as well, including anime, merchandise and the RETRO product-line. We've got some exciting stuff ahead this year!
Thanks as always to the TAAU members for their huge support and we're glad to be giving something back."

WORLD EXCLUSIVE! MP-02 TO BE RELEASED IN JAPANESE PACKAGING AT TARGET
In a conversation with TAAU, Hasbro source Laserbeak has revealed the upcoming Takara MP-02 Ultra Magnus will be sold in Australian Target stores this year.
The die-cast figure will be released in its original, unaltered Japanese packaging with all of its accessories and paperwork. Hasbro's only contribution to the package will be a small sticker, placed on the box's underside near the barcode, displaying the company's customer service hotline number.
"This will be a Target exclusive, released in Australia only," Laserbeak told TAAU.
"I believe it will be the first time a Japanese product has been released in its Japanese packaging in a Western market."
Laserbeak said Hasbro had high hopes for the figure's success, as the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure "sold very well, particularly for Target".
He said Target had ordered the figure for its July catalogue, although Hasbro hoped to have it on the shelves "by April or at least May".
The figure is expected to retail for between $100 and $130, with a final price yet to be determined.
"It could lead to more releases of this type, if the response from customers is good," Laserbeak said.
In other news, Laserbeak confirmed the new Cybertron line would include a Supreme-sized version of Starscream, and that the Galaxy Force-style Mega-sized figure was "not part of the launch range".
When asked to confirm the rumours of a Supreme-sized figure of Primus, Laserbeak's response was a chuckling "no comment".
TAAU would like to take this opportunity to thank Laserbeak for his time, and for the much-appreciated sneak peak of future releases.
