Although the TAAU message board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters to constantly update this section each and every day for you. As there are already a number of excellent international news sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course, the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to be!

ENERGON GESTALT LEADERS AT TOYWORLD

TAAU board member Vert has reported finding Steamhammer and Storm Jet - the central pieces of the Energon Construction and Air combiner teams, respectively - at his local Toyworld today. They and other red-carded Energon deluxes are starting to appear on store shelves, so start looking!

BtR OPTIMUS PRIME BACK IN STOCK @ BIG W

The subject line says it all - Big W stores around South Australia (and, likely, the rest of the country) have received new shipments of Built to Rule Optimus Prime (including the Sparkplug Mini-con). As before, the do-it-youself block kits are retailing for $9.99 each.

THE LITTLEST TRANSFAN

TAAU is known as 'the childhood revival', but being a conglomerate of big kids doesn't mean you can't roll up your sleeves and do something special for the little kids among us.

And so, in September and October of 2004, TAAU members began a fundraiser for 'Jack', Australia's littlest Transfan.

Jack is a student at a South Australian primary school who is going through some tough times at the moment, beginning with his father's death and culminating, most recently, in a positive diagnosis for Asperger's Syndrome. Despite his problems, Jack loves Transformers with the passion of a veteran fan, even though his collection is, as he puts it: "probably the smallest in the country, maybe the world!"

Inspired by TAAU member, DragonTail, and organised by TAAU owner, Stephen, Australia's Transfan community rallied together to amass a special, one-of-a-kind gift pack to welcome Jack to the world of Transformer collecting. On Saturday October 16, Jack was presented with the fruits of their labours: a 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime, a brand-new Energon Unicron, a horde of Japanese figures and a stack of high quality "pre-loved" G1 and G2 'bots.

Thrilled and amazed, Jack had but one response: "today is the single greatest day of my life!"

Stephen and DragonTail would like to thank all TAAU members, teachers and, especially, Jack's mother for making this possible.

For a complete overview of the fundraiser, including pictures, check out the dedicated thread on the TAAU board, right here.

TAAU NOVEMBER '04 COMPETITION NOW OPEN

We don't have donations from any huge multi-national corporations or specialised online retailers this month, just little old me offering up what I hope will be a very welcome and attractive prize - especially considering its rarity in Australia at the moment - so, as Rolf Harris would say, "know what it is yet?"

As if you didn't know already, this month's TAAU competition prize comes in the form of one very sexy and very elusive Universe Nemesis Prime; one of the coolest Transformers to rear its blood covered tusks in many a year I think!

MADMAN LAUNCH T-SHIRT MINI-SITE AND ASK FOR YOUR FEEDBACK

Madman contacted me yesterday to pass on details of a new mini-site they've just launched to sell t-shirts, called OtakuWear.

Even more exciting though is the fact that they've again asked me to get your feedback, as they're planning to add a further two designs to their Transformers range and are currently thinking about making one with the Japanese version of the Transformers logo on it, and one other, so, as always, they'd love your ideas and suggestions!

Just bear in mind though that t-shirt designs are usually kept fairly simple and are created in one or two colours, so nothing too extravagant please.

If you're a board member, feel free to post your feedback in this thread here, or alternatively you can send your ideas via email to myvote@theyareamongus.com.
