| Although
the TAAU message
board is an excellent source for news and events, we wanted
to do more, and so in the tradition of all the big US-based
news sites out there, we have assembled a team of reporters
to constantly update this section each and every day for you.
As there are already a number of excellent international news
sites out there, we have decided to dedicate this section to
Australian-specific information only, all of which we receive
direct from our contacts at Hasbro, Madman, Atari and, of course,
the hundreds of TAAU members out there who visit the site each
and every day to report their findings, so if you want to keep
up-to-date with local news and events, this is the place to
be! |

THE LITTLEST TRANSFAN
TAAU is known as 'the childhood revival', but being a conglomerate of big kids doesn't mean you can't roll up your sleeves and do something special for the little kids among us.
And so, in September and October of 2004, TAAU members began a fundraiser for 'Jack', Australia's littlest Transfan.
Jack is a student at a South Australian primary school who is going through some tough times at the moment, beginning with his father's death and culminating, most recently, in a positive diagnosis for Asperger's Syndrome. Despite his problems, Jack loves Transformers with the passion of a veteran fan, even though his collection is, as he puts it: "probably the smallest in the country, maybe the world!"
Inspired by TAAU member, DragonTail, and organised by TAAU owner, Stephen, Australia's Transfan community rallied together to amass a special, one-of-a-kind gift pack to welcome Jack to the world of Transformer collecting. On Saturday October 16, Jack was presented with the fruits of their labours: a 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime, a brand-new Energon Unicron, a horde of Japanese figures and a stack of high quality "pre-loved" G1 and G2 'bots.
Thrilled and amazed, Jack had but one response: "today is the single greatest day of my life!"
Stephen and DragonTail would like to thank all TAAU members, teachers and, especially, Jack's mother for making this possible.
