SKYCAT'S REPORT:
"Okay, so here's the deal:
BotCon pics do dwell within these
pages. Not very good quality, but eh, with a couple of el
cheapo disposable cameras, y'can't expect miracles!
They've been divided up in some
semblance of order to minimise load time, make specific stuff
easier to find and all that, so go forth and enjoy! Or curse
at my crappy photography skills. Either way.
PICTURES:
DEALER ROOM > PRINTS
DEALER ROOM > TOYS
ART ROOM > PICTURES
BOTCON:
BotCon was, in a word: great!
I had tons of fun, and got to meet
tons of friends too, even if some of them did hunt me down
with their cameras. Damn them!
ARMADA:
The Armada toys were pretty nifty looking, most of 'em anyway,
and the Hasbro panel said they were working on a new design
for Hot Spot's head, considering all the bitching that's been
going on about the fugly thing. There won't be a reissue G1
megs because of the whole safety/gun laws issue, which is
also why Laserbeak is day-glo orange.
THE PANELS:
The panels were all great, especially the voice actor panel.
I'll just say, at one point Neil Caplan was being beat up
by three of the other voice actors! A friend of mine videotaped
all the panels, he told me he'd get 'em online asap. When
he does, I'll let y'all know where they are so y'can experience
the panels for yourself.
Oh and I didn't hafta tell Wankus
he has a stupid name because I think half the convention beat
me to it. *grins*
WANKUS:
I heard that on Saturday night, Wankus was down at the bar
getting plastered and buying drinks for everyone. He was still
there at about 5am, heh. When asked later in the morning if
he was hung over, Wankus just said something along the lines
of "Hell no, I'm still drunk!"
AUTOGRAPHS:
As for autographs, got two: Simon Furman (if you don't know
who that is, you should be killed slowly and painfully over
the course of several days, with a Teletubbie) and the guy
who did RiD Grimlock's voice; can't remember his name at the
moment. Wouldn't have managed to get his autograph, 'cept
he was at the airport at the same time I was, after BotCon,
so managed to chat with him some there and get his sig. That
was fun.
There was some guy and his gf there
at the time as well; the guy asked him for his autograph,
then his gf (who was completely clueless about tfs) asked
as well. She requested that he put something personal with
the autograph, and he was going "like what?" The
chick didn't know, so in the end he wrote "Thanks for
last night, you were great!"
It was absolutely friggin' hilarious!
All the voice actor and writer guys were a lot of fun.
MY LOOT:
Gots most all the stuff I was after, including reissue Jazz
and Prowl, the japanese version of RiD's three train brothers,
a blue G2 Grimlock with his sword and gun, a pretty much complete
G1 Superion including all the little guns that come with each
Aerialbot, Cryotek, the cyberjets Jetfire and Strafe, and
a few other miscellaneous bits and pieces.
COSTS:
As for how much the whole trip
cost me.... umm... hard to say.
The plane tickets just to Las Vegas were just under $2700
Aus I think, dunno how much the tickets from there to Ft.
Wayne and back were. I didn't hafta pay for accommodation
or the BotCon prereg either, which was good. Yay for my boyfriend.
BOTCON 2003:
Next year's BotCon is gonna be held in Chicago, apparently.
Um, anyway, that's all I can think
of at the moment. Will prolly post more later when I can remember
more."
